go the mayors of america!
righto. in the newspaper this morning, i read about 134 (and still growing) city mayors throughout 35 states in america, giving bush jr. the middle finger and a thumb in the eye. over what? these mayors, both democrat and republican, are going ahead with the kyoto protocol, and making their cities compliant with the reduction of green house gases in their cities by the 2010 plan. some of the major cities partaking in this are; San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, New York.
the presidents response- it could make america more energy dependent. i think this is what he would hope for. afterall, he is a big business, son of an oil tycoon, born again christain, which translates to out of touch with reality and the rest of the world, over 4 billion other individuals. ironic too, that alaska was just ok'ed for more oil drilling a few weeks ago.
i was so proud to read about these mayors. the whole thing started in Seattle and has just steam rolled forward. the plan, in short, is to enhance public transport and carpooling, as well as actively seek alternative forms of energy. the reason for the push is due to the obvious climate changes that are taking place all over the world. a short list- torrential rains in california, tornadoes in the mid-west, droughts, earthquakes, and even a tsunami.
is the gobal climate changing? well it doesn't take a meteorologist to answer that one, so pull your head out george bush jr.
