paint job
it seems to be the topic for me lately. house painting. i figure because that is what i have been dedicating my time to lately, when i am not visiting a hospital or looking for employment. had a few leads today. nobody said "no," so that is positive. today i have once again been painting the trim around the base boards and door frames running down the hallway. part of the difficulty in the job, is that we are painting over a real dark stained timber. so the thing requires about 4 coats to hide all the wood work. due to the fact that it is the detail work, it takes a lot of time. one more coat, then i will have that section complete. i will share a good little trick with you all, this one i got from my little mother- when working with an oil based enamel paint, to reduce the nasty smell and fumes from the paint, add a bit of cooking vanilla. it takes the edge right off. it totally works. thanks mom. for an old girl you know quite a few good tricks. another thing i have been told is to cut up an onion and put it in a bucket of water in the room. i have yet to try this one. so on top of the whole day, i have a killer headache from the paint fumes. yes, i wear a mask, but it is not 100% effective.
