bamboo full steam ahead

since becoming a home owner, i have taken particular interest in the garden. we have a huge yard to contend with. it is not massive in relation to huge mansion size yards, but for a suburban lifestyle it is big enough (front and back). as the months have passed and we are now 10 months into being the occupants of this place, i have made some drastic changes in the gardens. when we bought this place the gardens were an over run jungle. there were all kinds of plants growing everywhere and in all directions. there were some rare and fantastic things, norfolk pine tree, flowers, orchids, and ferns. there was also alot of crap and other weeds scattered throughout. thus it has been mostly my job to sort it all out, with the assistance from my lovely wife at times, whose domain is more the inside of the house. together we have saved what was worth keeping, mostly through transplanting, and a few months ago i hired a chainsaw for a day. on that day i cleared away all the junk, i cut down trees (the weedy ones) removed bushes and other things, and created a massive pile of cut branches and logs at the side of the house waiting to be wisked away.
since then we have had two fences installed, dividing ourselves from the neighboring properties, who on either side of us, are building up up up their houses respectively. one has turned itself into one of those massive mc-mansions, and is an ugly eye sore towering over the entire neighborhood. because we could never compete with the house next door, and because we would prefer a little privacy from the potential nosey neighbors, no one has moved in just yet, we decided to plant bamboo. now let me just dispell any potential dissent on this point, it is a clumping bamboo, and not the invasive kind. this bamboo, is my pet project for the moment. one, because it was so fucking expensive. two, because it is young and fragile at the moment. three, becuase it is what will give us privacy and a solid barrier from the people next door and behind us. so on any given day you will find me outside tending the bamboo. i water it on a regular basis, i fertilize it on a regular basis with this liquid seaweed compound that does wonders, i have mulched it, given it a special garden bed%2

Comments:
